What to expect on your first visit... Visiting any church for the first time can be a tough experience. How do I get there? Where can I park? What time do I show up? What do I wear? What's here for my children? What can I expect? With all these questions you have, we want to put you at ease. Your first visit at First Baptist will be warm, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience wonderful music, helpful preaching and teaching, friendly people, and a place you can call "home". Read below to answer some questions you might have about visiting our church. 1. Finding Our Church & Parking
We are located at 916 Plumas Street, right next to Fremont Hospital in downtown Yuba City. If you're driving from Marysville, take Highway 20 across the bridge and make a right at Plumas Street. From Yuba City, head east on Highway 20 and make a left at Plumas Street. Parking is available at the front and sides of the church building and also at the nearby office parking lots. 2. Finding Nurseries, Classes, & Services
Once you arrive, our friendly ushers will point you to the right place. We have nurseries available for babies and toddlers. We have services and classes for any age group from children through adults. We don't want you to get lost - there will be friendly greeters around the church that can escort you to where you want to go. 3. What's here for my children?
For babies and toddlers, we have excellent, qualified staff that will help take care of them in a clean, safe, and convenient nursery. If any problem arises, we can quickly contact you. For young children, we have classes for every grade that are fun, friendly, and Bible-centered. Teenagers and college students each have there own class where they can learn from an excellent teacher. 4. What's the morning schedule?
First, we have Sunday School classes starting at 9:45 AM. Our morning service begins at 11:00 AM, fifteen minutes after our classes end. We also have an evening service available which starts at 6:00 PM. You can choose to attend the service which best fits your schedule. If you can't attend on Sunday, there is a mid-week service on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. 5. What's on the schedule for adults, and what can I expect?
Most adults attend one of our main worship services in the morning at 11:00 AM, in the evening at 6:00 PM, or both. Our worship service consists of beautiful music from our choir, instrumentals, and special singers. The Bible is then taught and preached from Pastor John Vessell. This service is about an hour long. You can also come earlier at 9:45 AM and enjoy a time of fellowship with friendly people along with coffee and donuts. A Bible lesson will be taught that will be both practical and challenging. 6. How should I dress?
There is no dress code at First Baptist Church for members or guests. However, our church leaders and most of our church family dress up in traditional "Sunday" attire, but you can come dressed the way you are. We want you to feel both welcome and comfortable here. 7. Are there services at other times in the week?
Yes, we have three main worship services throughout the week, and each one has a different character and feel. Our Sunday morning service is at 11:00 PM. If you can't attend our morning service, we invite you to attend our evening service at 6:00 PM. On Wednesdays, we have our mid-week service at 7:00 PM. We hope you can visit us on any one of these times. We look forward to seeing you soon! 8. Am I expected to participate in the offering?
No, we don't want you to feel obligated to give to our offering. The services is our gift to you - we want you to enjoy the special music, to hear truths from the Bible taught, and to enjoy a warm, friendly atmosphere. If you feel led to give to our offering, we will greatly appreciate your generosity. ________________________________________________ If there's any questions you may still have, don't hesitate to give us a call at (530) 671-1750 or ask someone when you arrive.
